Django is a full Python web framework with an ORM, admin panel and authentication built in. FastAPI is a lighter framework for fast, typed APIs, and we use it most for AI services that run next to Python machine learning code.

Frequently asked questions

Django or FastAPI?

Use Django for a full web application that needs an admin panel, user accounts and a database layer out of the box. Use FastAPI for APIs and services, especially ones that serve machine learning models, where speed, async support and typed request validation matter more than built-in pages.

Why use Python for an AI back end?

Most AI tooling is written for Python first, including model SDKs, LangChain, LlamaIndex and the data libraries used to clean and chunk documents. Running the API in Python too means no translation layer between your web app and the AI code.

Can Django work with a React or Vue front end?

Yes. Django REST Framework exposes the API and the front end runs as its own app. KKommerce is built on Django REST Framework.

Can you move a Flask app to FastAPI?

Usually, yes, and route by route. FastAPI’s routing looks similar to Flask, so the work is mostly adding type hints, moving validation into Pydantic models and swapping sync code for async where it helps.
