Overview

Kanban Zone is a visual process management tool built around the Kanban method. Teams use it to see all their work on one board, find where work gets stuck, and change how they deliver. Contrive Solutions built the product on the MERN stack. It now serves more than 50,000 active users.

What the client needed

Kanban Zone wanted one place where a team could map how work actually moves, from first request to delivery. That map had to be easy to edit, show every initiative at once, and give teams enough data to analyse their process and improve it.

What we built

Visual workflow builder: teams design boards that match their own process instead of a fixed template.
Process analysis: views that show how work moves through each stage, so teams can spot slow steps and fix them.
Initiative visibility: one view across all initiatives, so managers see every team’s work without asking for status updates.
Team collaboration: shared boards where everyone on the team works from the same picture.

Tech stack

Front end: React with Redux, using Redux-Saga for async work such as saving board changes and loading data.
Back end: Node.js with the Express framework.
Database: MongoDB, whose flexible documents suit boards that each team sets up differently.

The whole product is in JavaScript, front to back. One language means one team can work across the full stack.
